Software Engineer, Platform

As a Sr. Platform Engineer, you will be one of the initial members of a new team to take our platform to the next level. We'll be exploring using state of the art technologies to provide an amazing experience to developers and users of box alike. You'll be able to discuss NoSQL database pros and cons while also deciding how to make the real-time web accessible to our developers. You should be able to draw out the oauth dance, and get excited about how to make that as transparent to a developer as possible. You should be excited about the mobile revolution and how the box platform can be leveraged to make data highly accessible and highly secure as well. In short, small team, amazing impact, high visibility, and new technologies with lots of coding. This should be any developers dream!

Responsibilities may include:

• Key design and implementation decisions for our platform.Quickly building prototypes to prove out initial concepts.
• Architecting long lasting designs and building scalable systems.
• Evangelizing good code and solid engineering practices.
• Interfacing with our developer community at a deep technical level to vet and brainstorm ideas.
• Acting as a leader in the group, guiding junior members, delegating responsibilities and helping to solve technical issues

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated expertise in building distributed, client/server systems especially in the web application space.
• Very strong communication skills to engage with other engineering teams, as well as developers.
• Innovative mindset – we are in uncharted space and need novel solutions to build out the cloud.
  
• Highly productive coder, self-starter and self-motivated.
• 4-year degree from a top-notch Computer Science or comparable program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated expertise on web technologies like RDBMS, NoSQL, JS, NodeJS, Oauth2, OpenId.
• 5+ years of professional web-based software development experience with an emphasis on building great platforms.
